Two Nigerian Men Accused of Leading a Sextortion Ring Plead Not Guilty in Federal Court

Two Nigerian men accused of leading an international online sextortion ring, that led the suicide of an upper peninsula teenager, have plead not guilty in federal court.

Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, both plead not guilty, after being formally advised on their charges, during yesterday’s arraignment in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. U.S. District Attorney for Michigan’s West District, Mark Totten, said in a release that his office is fully prepared to present the facts of the case in a fair trial.

Both men were recently extradited to the united states from their home in Lagos, Nigeria. Both men are charged in a four count indictment that includes charges of sexual exploitation resulting in the death of a minor, Conspiracy to sexually exploit minors, conspiracy to distribute child pornography, and conspiracy to commit stalking through the internet. Each man, if convicted face numerous years behind bars. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Mekaru, and Davin Reust will act as lead prosecutors on the case.

This case has been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Marquette County Sheriff, Michigan State Police Cyber Crimes Unit, with cooperation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria.
