Police in the eastern Upper Peninsula are investigating an incident leading to a house being a total loss after a fire Tuesday afternoon.
According to Michigan State Police, crews were reported to house fire before 2 p.m. on West Main Street near M-123 in Trout Lake Township.
All three occupants and their two dogs were able to safely escape. One cat was reported to have died in the fire.
MSP says no injuries were reported at this time. The neighboring house also suffered damage from the fire, but is not a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
