Tribal Police mourn loss of K-9 Officer

After less than one year with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, K-9 Officer Tank has died. The dog joined the force in April, but became sick. Veterinarians ran several tests, where they concluded that Tank had terminal cancer. He passed away on Thursday.

Tank was trained in narcotics detection by Sergeant Everett Ekdahl. Police Chief Duane Misegan says the loss will leave a hole that is hard to fill. “He was a good dog and served the KBIC Community very well. He will be missed.”
