The Keweenaw ATV club will meet to update the public on the Lake Linden trail that is currently undergoing serious reconstruction after the Fathers Day flood a few years ago.
It was estimated that over 400 individual projects need to be completed on the trail. The club is always looking for more members, especially younger ones.
“There’s a couple ways they can support us. Number one just get your name on the rosters. The more people we have on our list the more influence we have with the state. Number two, you can join up and come to the meetings once in a while, tell us what you think of the trails and what improvements we can make. [And] number three, just jump in with both feet and help us with maintenance and trail development. A couple years ago, Mike [McMahon] and I were out on a project with other members, putting railings on a bridge and Mike kind of looked over at me and said ‘you realize we’re the youngest guys out here?'” -Daryl St. John, Keweenaw ATV Club President
Last meeting, the ATV club handed out paperwork to those interested in adopting a trail to take care of, and they asked those who have the paperwork filled out to turn it in at the meeting tonight. The meeting will also discuss a day ride sometime this month, and ask for volunteers for the picnic in July.
The meeting will be at the Hubbell VFW building starting at 7pm.
