Tomorrow is National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. The day was established in 2017 to highlight the work done by school bus drivers to get kids safely to and from school each day. In the Keweenaw Peninsula driving school buses can come with extra safety precautions with loads of snow and variable terrain. School bus drivers also get students to sporting events and field trips. Even driving long distance for trips to Mackinaw Island or downstate for sports teams competing in regional tournements. To help celebrate school bus drivers, Hancock Public Schools is encouraging students in the Copper Country to show their appreciation for their bus driver at tomorrow’s morning pick up, with a card, piece of candy or any other token of appreciation.
