Houghton County’s Building Official has been named to the board of directors for the Code Officials Conference of Michigan. Houghton County Building Official Todd LaRoux, who recently attended the Code Officials Conference of Michigan’s annual meeting last month, was asked to join the group’s board of directors. The Code Officials Conference of Michigan is a professional organization that gathers building and code enforcement officials across the state to learn opportunities and advance the professional development of its members. The COCM promotes proper administration and enforcement of state building codes for the good of the public. LaRoux’s appointment to the board of directors will last for an eight-year term. His role with the Code Officials Conference of Michigan is the only representation from the Upper Peninsula on its board of directors. LaRoux was a general contractor starting in 1992, before his employment with Houghton County. For the past 12 years, he has served the county as the building inspector and official.
