Zimmerman

MLB
The Detroit Tigers scored four runs in the fourth inning, and went on to defeat the Chicago White Sox 7-3 yesterday. The game was tied 1-1 when Detroit batted through the order. The Tigers added two more in the fifth inning. Jordan Zimmerman gave up three runs over five innings, and got the win. Blaine Hardy, Shane Greene, Alex Wilson and Francisco Rodríguez each pitched an inning of scoreless relief. Justin Upton homered for Detroit.

Jimenez

After breaking their four-game losing streak, the Tigers open a set against the Cleveland Indians tonight. Daniel Norris will pitch against Trevor Bauer. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

After the game, the Tigers sent struggling reliever Joe Jimenez to Toledo. Lefty Chad Bell has been called up.

Santana

Domingo Santana hit two home runs, as the Milwaukee Brewers edged the the Atlanta Braves 4-3 yesterday. Matt Garza pitched into the seventh inning, gave up three runs, and earned the win.

The Brewers open a series at St. Louis against the Cardinals tonight. Zach Davies will start against Michael Wacha.

Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun left yesterday’s game with soreness in his right arm. He says he could miss a couple of games, but hopes to avoid time on the disabled list. Third Baseman Travis Shaw hopes to be back in the lineup tonight. He left Saturday’s game after being hit on the hand by a pitch.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University softball team will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser tomorrow night from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Finlandia Dining Hall. Money raised will support the team’s trip to Canton, New York, for the American Collegiate Athletic Association championship Saturday and Sunday.

NHL
In the NHL playoffs yesterday…
– The Predators defeated the Blues 3-1. Nashville leads that series 2-1.
– The Ducks dumped the Oilers 6-3. Edmonton leads that series 2-1.

Today, the Capitals face the Penguins. Pittsburgh leads that series 2-0.

NBA
In the NBA playoffs yesterday…
– The Jazz became the final team to advance to the second round, with a 104-91 win over the Clippers in the seventh game of their opening-round series.
– The Celtics downed the Warriors 123-111 in the first game of their second-round series.

Two other second round series open tonight…
– The Cavaliers face the Raptors.
– The Rockets meet the Spurs.
