Zimmerman

MLB
Jordan Zimmermann’s struggles continued, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-3 Sunday. Zimmermann surrendered all seven runs on eight hits over five innings. He gave up three home runs. Warwick Saupold contributed two innings of scoreless relief, and 30-year-old Arcenio Leon pitched a perfect eighth in his major league debut. Chicago starter Miguel Gonzalez carried a perfect game into the seventh inning.

Collins

The Tigers open a series at Kansas City tonight. Daniel Norris will face Jason Hammel. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:50 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

As expected, the Tigers called outfielder Alex Pressley up from Toledo yesterday. To make room for him, they designated outfielder Tyler Collins for assignment. Collins could be picked up by another team off waivers. If he clears waivers, he could remain with the Tigers organization, and be assigned to the Mud Hens.

Santana

The Milwaukee Brewers built a big early lead, and held off the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5 Sunday. The Crew was up 2-1 in the fourth inning when Domingo Santana’s first grand slam blew the game open. With Milwaukee leading 8-1, the D’backs rallied in the eighth, scoring four times off relievers Oliver Drake and Carlos Torres. With two runners on base, Jacob Barnes got pinch-hitter Paul Goldschmidt to fly out to center field to end the threat.

The Brewers open a series against the Mets in New York this afternoon. Matt Garza will pitch against Robert Gsellman.
