Tigers can’t score past first-Wednesday Sports Wrap

Ryan LaMarre’s line drive homer to the left field bleachers in the second inning put the White Sox up for good, defeating the Tigers, 6-3, at Comerica Park last night.  Blaine Hardy gave up four runs in four innings for the loss, as Detroit had chances in the sixth and ninth to ties the contest, but couldn’t.

The Tigers conclude that home set against the Chicago White Sox this afternoon. Jordan Zimmerman will start against Carlos Rondon. Pregame coverage begins at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The wind blew out of Wrigley for the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, blasting four home runs against the Chicago Cubs yesterday afternoon for a 7-0 victory.  Ryan Braun had two of them, while Jhoulys Chacin struck out 10 over seven innings of work.

That quick series wraps up this afternoon in Chicago. Junior Guerra will pitch against Kyle Hendricks.

Twilight League Championship
Tyler Laduron had two strikeouts each inning he pitched, 14 in all, allowing one hit as SNB-Stanton won the opening game of the Copper Country Twilight Baseball League championship series last night, 3-1, over Wolverine-Orbit.


Three hits in the second were the difference for the regular-season champ Wildcats, scoring two runs after the bases were loaded on a walk to Daron Durocher and a fielder’s choice to Justin Kirby  Durocher also earned the RBI on an insurance run in the sixth.

Luke Paul scored the lone Wolverine run in the final inning.  Paul started the inning on a walk, got to second on a force, and then scored on a steal with a throwing error.

The series continues with game two of the best-of-three series tomorrow night at the Wolverine field. Our broadcast coverage will begin around 6:00 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
