MLB
The Detroit bullpen failed again, as the Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-3 Friday. Matthew Boyd turned in a quality start, giving up three runs over even innings, while striking out five. He left with the game tied 3-3. Alex Wilson surrendered two runs in the eighth on a two-out, bases-loaded single by Geovany Soto. Joe Jimenez gave up a two-run homer to Tim Anderson in the ninth.
The Tigers entertain the White Sox again this afternoon. Michael Fulmer will pitch against Derek Holland. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
The Milwaukee Brewers’ bullpen failed no better in a 10-8 loss to the Atlanta Braves Friday. The Crew took an early lead with four runs in the second inning. The Braves responded with four runs in the top of the third. Milwaukee plated a pair in the fifth, and two more in the sixth, but Atlanta scored six times off four Brewers relievers over the final three innings to earn the win. Neftalí Feliz took the loss. Orlando Arcia, Ryan Braun and Domingo Santana homered for Milwaukee. The Brewers will host the Braves again tonight. Jimmy Nelson will start against Jaime García.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Maranatha Baptist University Friday, 5-1 and 16-5. The Lions will wrap up their season with another doubleheader at Maranatha Baptist today.
Alanson basketball standout Jacob Oom will join the Finlandia program next season. Oom averaged 23 points per game for the Vikings this past season, and was named to the AP Class D All-State second team.
NHL
In the NHL playoffs yesterday…
– The Blues defeated the Predators 3-2. That series is tied 1-1.
– The Oilers got past the Ducks 2-1. Edmonton leads that series 2-0.
Today…
– The Penguins face the Capitals. Pittsburgh leads that series 1-0.
– The Rangers take the Senators. Ottawa leads that series 1-0.
The Detroit Red Wings will learn today what pick they’ll have in the first round of the NHL draft. At the lottery drawing in Toronto, they have a 6.7 percent chance of landing the top pick. No matter what happens, Detroit will own a top-10 pick for the first time since 1991.
NBA
In the NBA playoffs last night…
– The Wizards advanced with a 115-99 victory over the Hawks. Washington won the series 4-2.
– The Celtics moved on with a 105-83 win over the Bulls. Boston win the series 4-2.
– The Clippers defeated the Jazz 98-93. That series is tied 3-3. Game seven will be played tomorrow afternoon.
NFL
In the NHL Draft Friday, the Green Bay Packers opened the second round by taking University of Washington cornerback Kevin King. They also took North Carolina State safety Josh Jones in the second round, and Auburn 
defensive tackle Montravius Adams in the third round. Adams took the congratulatory call at a hospital in Georgia, where his girlfriend had just given birth to a son.
The Detroit Lions selected University of Florida cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor in the second round Saturday. The Lions traded down in the third round, swapping picks with the New England Patriots. They used the 96th overall pick to take wide receiver Kenny Golladay of Northern Illinois. As part of the deal, Detroit got New England’s fourth-round pick.
The final rounds of the draft will be held today.
