Verlander

MLB
The Houston Astros hit four home runs, and edged the Detroit Tigers 7-6 last night. Three of those shots came in the fourth inning off Justin Verlander, who gave up six runs before leaving in the sixth inning. The Tigers came back to tie the game in the top of the eighth, before Jake Marisnick’s homer off Alex Wilson in the bottom of the eighth gave the Astros the winning margin. J.D. Martinez and Justin Upton homered for Detroit.

Farmer

The Tigers play a doubleheader against the White Sox in Chicago tonight. Buck Farmer will make his first start of the year for Detroit in the opener. The White Sox have not yet announced whom their starter will be. Matthew Boyd will face former Tiger Mike Pelfrey in the second game, which is a makeup for a rainout April 5th. Pregame coverage will begin at 4:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Detroit catcher James McCann left last night’s game after he was hit on the hand by a pitch while batting. The blow opened up a cut that needed stitches. He’s been placed on the 10-day disabled list. John Hicks has been recalled from Toledo to fill in.

Guerra

The Milwaukee Brewers managed only three hits last night, and lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0. Zach Davies gave up three runs over six innings, and took the loss.

The Brewers host the Diamondbacks again tonight. Junior Guerra will return from the disabled list to start for Milwaukee. Zack Godley will counter for Arizona.

NHL
In the NHL playoffs, the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Eastern Conference final with a 3-2 double-overtime victory over the Ottawa Senators in game seven last night. The Penguins will face the Predators for the Stanley Cup beginning Monday night in Pittsburgh.
