The Michigan State Police continued to search for 2 boaters not recovered from a capsized boat on Saturday. At approximately 12:15 pm troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post with deputies from the Houghton County and Baraga County sheriff offices were dispatched to an area of the Second Send Beach for a capsized 21-foot boat. It was reported that 5 people were on the boat at the time it sank. A person in another boat nearby responded to the scene and was able to recover 3 of the 5 persons. As of 8:30 pm Saturday, the boat and 2 people remain missing. The US Coast Guard responded with a helicopter from Traverse City and a boat from the Portage Station. No names have been released at this time.
