The village of Ahmeek receives $80,000 for road safety planning from the U.S. Department of Transportation

9.3 million dollars of federal funds will support communities in Mcihigan creating safer roadways. To limit serious injuries and deaths on the road, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program has awarded 9.3 million dollars to Michigan communities.

Last week senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters in a joint announcement shared that seven municipalities in the state will receive a portion of the federal funding. The Village of Ahmeek will receive 80,000 dollars for developing a comprehensive safety action plan. The village plans to address road safety risks associated with increasing tourism and recreation opportunities in the area. Senator Stabenow says the investment will give Michigan communities the tools necessary to keep cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers safe.
