The Superior Health Foundation Award $548,000 for Youth Mental Health Services in the Upper Peninsula

The Superior Health Foundation awards 548,000 dollars in grants supporting mental health services in the Upper Peninsula. Last Thursday the Superior Health Foundation board of directors announced it has approved 548,477 dollars for the second year of the Proactive Pediatric Mental Health Grants to groups addressing youth mental health needs in the region. The grant was awarded to seven organizations. The MSU Department of Pediatrics and Human Development will use 271,000 dollars for the UP-TEACH program dedicated to training Upper Peninsula-based primary care providers to identify at-risk youth through mental health screenings. The program aims to improve the referral pipeline to ensure youth in the Upper Peninsula can receive specialized mental health services and care. In the Copper Country Unite will receive a little more than 18,500 dollars to support the Thriving Minds program that expands access to infant mental health services. Other organizations in the Upper Peninsula to receive grant funds from the Superior Health Foundation include the Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula, the Great Lakes Recovery Center, Marquette Alger RESA, and the Upper Peninsula Health Care Solutions.
