The Nature Conservancy organizes a Keweenaw Heartlands Project update in October

Work continues along as the Nature Conservancy and Michigan Department of Natural Resources transition to Keweenaw Heartlands as a public entity. In 2022 the Nature Conservancy purchased more than 32,000 acres of forest and shoreline in Keweenaw County. Protecting former timber land from being parceled out into private ownership. The Project has held forums since completing its purchase to keep the community informed about activity and progress with the Keweenaw Heartlands Project. On October 13th the Nature Conservancy will host an October forum to share vital information regarding the project’s current status. The forum will have project manager Julia Peterson in attendance to answer questions from the public. Those interested in attending the forum will have an opportunity to attend online via Zoom. Those interested in learning more about the Keweenaw Heartlands Project can find more details below.
