The Nature Conservancy Asks for Public Input on the Keweenaw Heartlands Messaging

Since purchasing the Keweenaw Heartlands, The Nature Conservancy has worked to understand the community’s desires for the space. In partnership with the Keweenaw Community Foundation, The Nature Conservancy invites the public to share thoughts on the messaging for the Keweenaw Heartlands Project. At this time TNC has plans to begin transitioning management for local governance and wants to ensure that the project’s messaging effectively communicates what purpose the land serves. TNC has developed three key messages with assistance from local and regional community members. Additionally, the conservation group will organize a public engagement opportunity at the end of July and August to hear more from residents.

An online survey has been published for the nature conservancy and takes about five minutes to complete. On July 28th TNC will appear at the Copper Shores Community Picnic for those interested in sharing thoughts on the project’s messaging. The final opportunity for the community to engage with the group will take place in Grant Township on August 21st.

Those interested in taking the survey or want to learn more about the Keweenaw Heartlands public engagement opportunities can find more details below. Find a link to the survey here.
