The Music Doesn’t Stop

Good Times Music recently received a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation in the amount of 25,000 dollars. The grant is a part of the MEDC’s Match on Main program. The program allows the money to go toward updating the customer service experience for a store front. As well as maintaining the physical structure of the business without needing to make cuts in other areas.

What it does is let us make some improvements and kinda drive a little more traffic. It makes it feel a little bit more warm and welcoming. It just makes the place a little more presentable. We’ve been doing a lot of updating here since we first got shut down when COVID hit. I mean we’ve been doing it all ourselves. – Owner, Bruce Rundman

Good Times Music is the only music store in the western Upper Peninsula. They serve professional musicians as well as students in high school bands. The small downtown Houghton business was one of two in the Upper Peninsula to receive the match on main grant. The other business being the ore dock brewing company in Marquette, Michigan. They are a part of the 28 businesses to receive grants from the MEDC, totaling $1,011,057.
