Running around the Copper Country has many residents feeling happy and healthy throughout the summer. In the Keweenaw Peninsula during the summertime season, several running events get locals and visitors involved. Near the end of June the Keweenaw Community Foundation, Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds, and Keweenaw County Sheriff will host the Shine the Light 4 Health Minds 5K Run slash walk.
The fun run event to support Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds will be held in Eagle Harbor at the Township Park. Included during the day the 5k will offer a trail run and kid’s dash, followed by a free public safety event with the Keweenaw County Sheriff. The Foundation, sheriff’s office, and Support 4 Healthy Minds will include a touch truck with police cruisers and fire trucks and some pick-up basketball with sheriff deputies.
The Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds 5k will support Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds through registration fees for the event, and donation collection. Registration for the event will cost 25 dollars and includes a 5k T-shirt, race bib, and pins.
