The countdown to Giving Tuesday starts today, as 30 non-profits from the area prepare for the largest day of giving in the copper country. Giving Tuesday with the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation last year raised over 650,000 dollars from individuals in the community and from friends of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Annually the foundation has provided a match sum to add to the day of giving’s total. And together donations have added up to over 2.7 million dollars spread throughout the copper country during the past six years. In addition to the groups taking part in the event this year, the day of giving will raise funds for three of Copper Shores’ operational programs including, Out Reach and Education, Meals on Wheels, and Bridges and Victims Services. Those three programs are not subject to receiving match funds.
While many in the region will take a few minutes to mail out a donation ahead of November 28th or submit their support online that day. The Copper Shores Community Health Foundation has opened its donation portal for Giving Tuesday starting today. For those excited to support their favorite non-profits, or just want to support communities of the copper country, go online to find links to the Giving Tuesday donation portal.
Leading up to the 28th, join us here to meet the non-profits participating in Giving Tuesday this year. Throughout the month, you’ll find various non-profits spotlights to learn more about each organization, their experience with Giving Tuesday in the past, and plans for this year’s donations.
