Tech students ready to enjoy an “Afternoon on the Town”

Houghton’s business community gets the chance to introduce itself to Michigan Tech freshmen on Saturday in an event called “an Afternoon on the Town.” There is a virtual option, featuring 45 establishments. Molly Fitzgerald from the University’s Student Leadership and Involvement Office says students registered for the in-person tour will start at the Administration Building, move to College Avenue, and then into the downtown district. There will be a wide variety of businesses on display.

Retail businesses, nonprofit organizations, we have faith based organizations. We’ve got just about any flavor of anything that you could want. We’ve got the comic shop downtown, plenty of stuff for everyone.

Thirty-eight stores and churches are participating in a broad manner of ways.

Coupons, information, takeaways, giveaway prizes…many more things. It’s just another way for our students to get connected to with our lovely town that we live in.

An Afternoon on the Town takes place from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM August 28th. Registration has been closed since Wednesday afternoon.
