Tech professor named fellow at American Kinesiology Association Leadership Institute

Michigan Tech professor Steve Elmer will join colleagues from universities across the country, including Wisconsin-Madison, Purdue, Arkansas and others, as a Leadership Institute fellow in 2022. The program is offered through the American Kinesiology Association.

Elmer says the group will meet monthly through Zoom or a similar virtual platform for the entire year. It provides excellent mentorship opportunities.

It’s really a program for college professors that are aspiring to be future leaders down the road. Providing us with skills, training, experiences, networking opportunities.

Elmer says it was a competitive process to be accepted, and considering the prestige of the schools other fellows teach at, he finds the honor to be gratifying. It is a recognition of the work Elmer has been doing in the community, both educationally via COVID town halls he moderates for Michigan Tech, and with the Up and Moving exercise program for housebound residents.
