Tech to Face Denver in NCAA Hockey Opener

The Michigan Tech hockey team has been seeded fourth in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA tournament. The Huskies will face top-seed Denver in their opening game this Saturday at 1:00 at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.

The Huskies earned the WCHA’s automatic berth in the tournament by defeating Bowling Green State University 3-2 in double overtime in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association title game Saturday night.

Michigan Tech is the only WCHA team that was included in the tournament field. Union College and Penn State will meet in the other Midwestern semifinal. Minnesota earned the top seed in the Northeast Regional, and will open against Notre Dame. Massachusetts and Cornell fill out the Northeast. Harvard is seeded first in the East Regional, and will meet Providence. Western Michigan and the Air Force Academy are seeded second and third in the East. In the West, top-seed Minnesota Duluth will take on Ohio State in the opening round, and Boston University will face North Dakota.
