The EV battery supply chain in the United States, starts in the Upper Peninsula. A couple of weeks ago Talon Metals entered into an agreement with UPX Minerals, to acquire the Michigan Nickel Properties. Talon’s interest is in nearly 400,000 aces, originally owned by Henry Ford, close to the eagle nickel mine and Humboldt mine. The Eagle Nickel Mine is the only active nickel mine in the country. The Humboldt Mine currently processes the nickel ore that is extracted and trucked from the Eagle Nickel Mine. Talon will spend up to 5 million dollars on exploration, or drilling at least 7,500 meters, at the site. The company has until 2027 to complete the first stage of their exploration. Talon Metals also has a joint venture in central Minnesota, at the Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project. Talon has an agreement with the auto maker, Tesla, to supply the company with 75,000 metric tons of nickel, from the Tamarack Nickel Project over an estimated six-year period.
