With the lack of snow to start the winter season many plans are changing for regional events that were scheduled late in 2023 or at the start of 2024. The latest to fall out includes the Taquhamenon Country sled dog race. The Tahquamenon Country race will have to be canceled for the second year in a row due to a lack of snow on the trails. Typically the first of three races in the region, organizers regretfully had to cancel posting an official message for followers and racers on its website. Organizers are working with teams to refund race fees. The Thaquamenon Country Sled Dog Race Board of Directors also thanked the community’s wonderful sponsors who have supported the race during the past two years. Now the board will turn toward the future and begin working toward options to have a successful race next year.
