Just in time for recreation trails to open, the Keweenaw received over 25 inches of snow in the past week. All of that powder will come to good use this weekend as the Swedetown Trails Club opens the recreation area to winter snow sports.0
The Season opener event is an annual early-season tradition that includes races. Participants will have the option to join the pack for a 7.5-kilometer freestyle race. Throughout the winter residents and visitors will traverse the Swede town trails and enjoy a relaxing time in the outdoors. Swedetown Trails also hosts events like the Great Bear Chase in the later part of the season to bring in hundreds of skiers to the Calumet Laurium area.
Swedetown Trails suggests participants in the season opener donate 20 dollars to support trail maintenance early in the winter. Those interested in learning more about the season opener on the Swedetown trails tomorrow can find more details here.
The race will begin at 10am. The Swedetown Trails Season Opener is sponsored by the Swedetown Trails Club and Studio 13.
