Summer home victim of a smash and grab theft

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a breaking and entering case in Calumet Township. The summer cabin on Lakeshore Drive had the window on the front door smashed, allowing an unknown number of thieves to gain access.

They took several items, mostly recreational, including fishing poles, a pistol, long guns, fishing tackle, a compound bow and arrow set, a maritime wall clock, rare coins, and 30 pounds of agate rocks. The cabin had been unoccupied since 4 PM Sunday until the owner returned the next day.
