The Lt. was commended for his organizational skills in developing several community involvement programs such as Treat Street, the Pigs N Heat fundraising hockey game, and this years new event the Houghton Victorian Christmas.
Other pillars of the community receiving awards included Calumet Electronics, KC Bonkers, Orbion Space Technology, Anders Hill, and the Copper Harbor Trails Club accepting the project of the year award for its fifteen years of efforts that lead to the opening of a new section of the Kweenaw Point Trail.
In his closing speech Cole spoke of the importance of benevolence and giving back to the community. A man of his word, he then made a large personal donation to the Copper Country Humane Society, and another to the Omega House as he expressed the significant role each plays in the community.
