The Baraga Convention and Visitors Bureau posted on Facebook late Tuesday, sharing tips on how to stay safe on a snowmobile. It highlights the Michigan DNR’s “Ride Right” initiative.
“Please follow the RIDE RIGHT program
Ride on the right side of the trail.
Ride at a safe speed.
Ride sober.
Anticipate and yield to groomers.
Don’t use modified exhausts.
When approaching an intersection, come to a complete stop, raise off the seat and look both ways for traffic.
Ride safe, so you make it home to your family and friends.”
A crash in Baraga County last week killed a man from Minnesota. Less than seven days later a Wisconsin man died in an accident in Ironwood Township, near the state border. Speed or alcohol usage factored into both wrecks.
