Short Films at 41 North Share Artistic Styles, Political Stories, and Connections Between Adults and Kids

Short films are often a filmmaker’s first time getting their feet wet in the movie-making industry. Many times students study film work on short films as a part of class projects, while others enjoy the challenge a short film presents to a creative mind. Throughout the 41 North Film Festival, the event will include programming featuring various short films. Tonight’s first shorts will explore the world of animation and the creative styles animators use to tell stories.

“Sometimes they’re a bit more topical, like with the Mediated States shorts. They’re three films that have to deal with creative approaches to tell more political stories. And then on Sunday, Growing Pains, are sort of a combination of adults and children trying to figure their way out in the world and relation to each other.” – Erin Smith, Director, 41 North Film Festival

41 north film festival director Erin Smith says that the shorts programs are very exciting while exploring a wide range of themes. Animated Encounters will start tonight at 5 p.m. The other two short programs will take place on Friday and Sunday evenings. Find out more about the 41 North Film Festival here.
