Shelden Avenue Lane Closure Expected this Week

More work on Shelden Avenue is expected to shutdown a single lane this week. The city will have crews working between Michigan Made and the Print Shop, at the former Shelden Avenue parking deck entrance, on creating a pedestrian walkway down to Lakeshore Drive.

“And there’s a lane closure, which is not going to be fun, but it’s necessary. It’s going to be relatively short lived. But there’s going to be several days where there is a lane closure. They’re planning on opening it at the end of the work day for the evening hours. Provided there’s no hole there.” – Eric Waara, City Manager, City of Houghton

Crews are expected to remove the lane closure at the end of business day. Provided work is complete enough to remove the barriers. Traffic slowdowns should be expected in downtown Houghton throughout the week.
