September is Library Card Sign-up Month at the Portage Lake District Library

It is library card sign up month, and just in time for the start of school next Tuesday. The Portage Lake District Library is promoting area residents signing up for a library card. Which not only allows access to the library, its books, and facilities. But also get individuals more involved with various educational programs, and even a little help with homework.

This year Portage Lake District Library will introduce brand new cards for library members. Specially designed by Houghton’s own Studio 13. The cards are inspired by local landmarks such as the Quincy Mine, Houghton pier, and Portage Lake Lift Bridge.

During the month of September the Portage Lake District Library will also waive it’s library card replacement fee, for those with damaged or lost membership cards.

You can find more information and sign up for a library card online at PLDL.org. Org visit the library, pick up a brand new library card, and a new book to read before school starts.
