September is Great Lakes Shoreline Clean-up Month with the Alliance for the Great Lakes

The official last day of summer is just around the corner, and before the snow begins to cover Michigan’s beaches, it might be a good time to do a little beach clean up. During September the Alliance for the Great Lakes is encouraging great lakes residents to go to the beach and help clean up the shoreline. This year, the group has organized this weekend, the 16th and 17th as the weekend to get out and keep Michigan’s beaches clear of debris and refuse. The Gratiot Lake Conservancy plans to participate in the annual shoreline clean-up day with the Alliance for the Great Lakes. Volunteers or residents who are interested in helping keep the coast clear should contact Bonnie with the Gratiot Lake Conservancy to learn more details about the volunteer weekend. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and bags, a record-keeping sheet will be provided.
