State Senator Ed McBroom is listed as the only Michigan legislator to yet file income reports with the secretary of state. In a report by Bridge Michigan yesterday, Senator Ed McBroom was the only legislator in the state to yet file income, interests, and dealings reports for a deadline last month.
Senator McBroom says that the state’s online portal still had several issues that made the process of setting up an account cumbersome. He did however send his reports via email to the Michigan Bureau of Elections. The Bureau will not fine Senator McBroom for the late filing or alternative submission of documents. The disclosures by Michigan legislators and election candidates were due by April 15th last month using the initial portal created by the state. The Michigan Bureau of Elections does plan to implement an updated version of the portal later this year or early next year.
Michigan Voters in 2022 passed proposal one that was meant to increase transparency for state officials and their income. Those interested in reading Bridge Michigna’s full report can find a link here.
