A small leak at the L’Anse sewage treatment plant was resolved recently before any harm could be done. At last night’s council meeting, Village Manager Bob LaFave said the spill on March 13th came from a small crack in one of the plant’s clarifiers.
LaFave said the tank in question isn’t usually in use.
LaFave noted that such surges can happen in the spring because some residents have sump pumps that drain into the sewer system. Sump pumps that handle groundwater should be set up to drain elsewhere.
