Its Memorial Day weekend, and while the weather may not cooperate, it won’t stop runners from running around Keweenaw Mountain Lodge’s golf course. The Back 9 Endurance Race at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, challenges runners to push themselves for 12 or 24 hours. Endurance racing is a growing community for extreme runners that reach over 50 miles during an extended period of time.
The course travels around the lodge’s back half of their course, and is about three miles long. The race even offers for racers to team up and compete. There are spots still available for those that are up to the endurance challenge. Head to back9endurancerun.com to register and learn more about the race.
Ride the Keweenaw Bike Festival takes to the trails this weekend as well. The bike festival dots the entire peninsula with different places for riders to hit the trails and see more diverse biking opportunities in the Keweenaw. Such as a chance to bike through a copper mine tomorrow night.
No matter where adventurers end up this weekend, it is bound to be a great time, no matter the weather. Ride the Keweenaw’s Adventure Mine trek starts at 6:30 pm. If you plan on going to that event you are asked to being a headlamp, as it will be very dark riding through the mine, and organizers want to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time in Greenland.
