Road closure scheduled for Baraga County Lumberjack Days

For the first time, all motorized vehicle traffic, from trucks to golf carts, will be prohibited on Superior Avenue in the Village of Baraga on the Fourth of July for the Lumberjack Days celebration. The road will close at 8:00 AM on Sunday until after the fireworks display at dusk. The one obvious exception is for parade participants. This year’s float theme is “Board Games,” and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries as scored by the judging panel.

The two-day event begins at 9:00 AM on July 3rd with the Let Freedom Run 5K. The queen is crowned Saturday night, followed by a community dance. A breakfast begins things on Sunday and it all wraps up with the lantern lighting ceremony and fireworks at 10:30 PM on Independence Day.
