Representative Greg Markkanen votes to uphold work requirements for the Healthy Michigan Program. Recently legislation to repeal a stipulation that able-bodied medicad beneficiaries engage in workforce activity for a minimum of 80 hours a month. The requirement has not been in effect since the COVID-19 pandemic due to a Supreme Court ruling. The bill was passed over to the state’s senate for consideration. Representative Markkanen says that while many able-bodied people happily seek to work the requirement accepts a variety of workforce engagement activities to continue receiving Medicaid benefits.
