Reminder to Stay on the Trail or Stay Home

The Keweenaw Snowmobile Club reminds riders that it is illegal to snowmobile off trail or across private property without permission. The club has received reports of snowmobilers not adhering to posted signs on trail 122, between Sawmill Road and Gay. Trail 122 is only open from the Lake Linden Trail 3/Trail 122 intersection to sawmill road.

There is a snow berm and signs in place notifying riders of the trail closure. If riders continue to disobey posted markings, the snowmobile club says they will have no other choice than to close the section of trail permanently. The snowmobile clubs in the Upper Peninsula rely on property easement agreements with private property owners to connect the region’s vast network of trails. Traveling off trail or across private property, where signage has been posted, puts snowmobile recreation at risk of losing permission from property owners. Please contact the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club with and questions, or to check trail conditions this winter, 906-934-2650.
