Registration open for MTU Alumni Reunion

A favorite summer tradition for Michigan Tech graduates is back on August 6th. This year’s Alumni Reunion is only one day, since planning had to begin well before COVID restrictions had been lifted. Director of Advancement and Alumni Communications Wes Frahm says class milestones will remain the focal point of the celebration.

Our 50-year class will obviously be 1971. We do a golden M pinning ceremony. But we feature our classes from ’81, ’91, ’96 will be our 25-year class, 2001 is our 20-year class, and 2011.

The sixth is a Friday meaning alumni potentially have an open summer weekend to enjoy the Keweenaw Peninsula, and Frahm expects many to take advantage.

Certainly the area is a huge draw for our alumni. To come back to the Copper Country and see the area, they’ll have their different hangouts that they like to go, both businesses and all of the public access land, whether it is taking a trip up to Copper Harbor or McLain.

The reunion is an annual event for a lot of the alumni who take part, especially those who are into retirement and have freer schedules. Five-hundred is a good attendance in a normal year. Frahm says 300 to 400 participants is what Tech is hoping for next month.
