Recent Flooding Will Not Impact Start of Trail #3 Project in Lake Linden, KORC Keweenaw Clean Up Day Coming Up

Despite the recent flooding near the Trail #3 project in Lake Linden, the project remains on schedule. Keweenaw ATV club leadership assured membership, that the damage around project sites did not harm conditions any further. In the meantime bids on ATV projects around Eagle Harbor have come in, and will begin soon. Leadership anticipates bids for the Lac La Belle project will come in sometime within the next week.

The Keweenaw ATV club is seeking young trail enthusiasts willing to help out with maintenance projects, and continue the club’s mission of ensuring access to the trail system for future generations. Members are getting older, and need assistance with many projects club members complete during the season. Interested ATV users can get to meet Keweenaw ATV club members during the upcoming Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition’s clean up day on May 20th. The ATV club regularly has high participation, and the event is a great opportunity to get first hand experience cleaning up trails.

The ATV club asks that for those helping with maintenance on the 20th, take note of ditches along the trail with standing water, damaged trees, and culvert conditions. In order to identify any future project sites, or areas that need a little extra care before the season officially starts.
