Rabbit Island School Now Accepting Applications

High schoolers interested in arts and ecology have the opportunity for a 7 day expedition on Rabbit Island, which is just 3 miles off the coast of the Keweenaw.

The program emphasizes student-led projects with mentors that offer support and expertise ranging from art, ecology, writing, wilderness crafts, and more. The group creates a community that is immersed in a unique natural environment surrounded by Lake Superior.

In the past, students have spent time reading, writing, painting, carving spoons, creating natural dyes, and more.

Seven local high school students will be selected, and there are scholarships available to cover travel, food, lodging, and other camping supplies.

The students must be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year in fall of 2023. The students will also need to submit a letter of interest and a letter of recommendation.

Applications are currently open, and must be submitted by June 30. The program runs from Wednesday, Aug 16 to Wednesday, Aug 23
