Quincy Mine Hoist Association Explores the Region’s Deep History During Summer Programs

The stories telling the tales of the people in the Copper Country run as deep as the region’s historic mines. Throughout the summer the Quincy Mine Hoist Association has invited the community and area’s visitors to learn about the history on the hill at the Quincy Mine with help from local historians. Last month’s program opportunities included topics like the QTLRR’s Locomotive Number 5 and the connection between mining and Michigan Tech.

Today the mine hoist association invites Dr. Sarah Scarlett to explore the neighborhoods that make up East Hancock and company suburbs. Throughout the History on the Hill series, the program has allowed people to explore the Copper Country’s vibrant history that can still be found standing today. The program is free and takes place at the Quincy 1894 Hoist House.

Tonight’s topic with Dr. Sarah Scarlett will begin at 6 pm. Those interested in learning more about the History on the Hill series with the Quincy Mine Hoist Association can find more details and information for future programs here.
