Since 2020 election security has become a well discussed topic in many circles. And over the year various petitions have been passed around the state, some even making it through Michigan’s legislative process. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has vetoed all of those bills. Tomorrow night four panelist will talk about the petitions that have surfaced in the state. Houghton County Clerk, Jennifer Kelly will meet with Reverend Robert Langseth, and Sharon Eklund and Victoria Bergvall form the League of Women Voters. The panel is set to start at 7 pm. Many bills to suppress voting and to subvert the election process have come up in the Michigan legislature. So far Governor Whitmer has vetoed them to protect our elections. Those who have an agenda to suppress and subvert our rights are circulating petitions that would bypass our legislative process. Voters Not Politicians, League of Women Voters and the ACLU have banded together to circulate Promote the Vote petition that would amend the state constitution preventing all future legislation and petitions from hindering our right to vote.
