Tower work will keep crews busy on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge at least through the week of December 6th. Weather will play a huge factor in how much construction is possible before winter finally halts things.
Delays for pedestrians, bicycles, and motor traffic will occur intermittently for a half hour at a time during the overnight hours. The outside lane on the northbound side continues to be closed to vehicles throughout the day as well.
Construction started in July and initially focused on the finger joints on both the upper and lower levels of the span. Lately it has transitioned to a focus on the counterweights and operations within the towers that help raise the middle portion of the bridge for maritime traffic passing underneath.
