The Portage Health Foundation’s scholarship opportunities will assist forty seniors from Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon Schools in 2023. There are six different scholarship programs that students can apply for. PHF scholarships will award 1,000 dollars to a graduating senior from Baraga, L’Anse, Calumet, Chassell, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, Hancock, Horizons, Houghton, Jeffers, Lake Linden-Hubbell, Ewen-Trout Creek and Ontonagon high schools for a general education scholarship, health career scholarship, and a career and technical education (CTE) scholarship that is in partnership with Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance. Other scholarship opportunities include the Joseph B. Kirkish scholarships, and the McIntyre Family Educational Scholarship. The Kirkish Scholarships award 2,500 dollars to four students in total. The McIntyre Family scholarship wards 2,000 dollars to two seniors from Ontonagon High School interested in skilled trades or technical education.
