The Portage Health Auxiliary will award grants in 2024. Recently the Portage Health Auxiliary announced that the annual grant program will begin accepting applications for projects and programs. The grant award will seek to improve the health and well-being of the elderly and youth in Baraga, Houghton Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. In 2023 the program awarded funds to the Angel Mission’s Coat the Copper Country campaign, Houghton schools robotics, Simple Kindness for Youth, South Range Elementary social work, Superior Search and Rescue, Ontonagon Hometown Christmas, the Salvation Army, Copper Country autism awareness, the Ontonagon commission on aging, and the Houghton county fair’s senior meal. All grant applications are due by October 24th. The Portage Health Auxiliary expects to disperse grant awards in December.
