Just because you can’t always see it…doesn’t mean homelessness doesn’t continue to be a problem in the Copper Country.
There’s a new effort to help those without a bed to call their own.
Tentatively called Hope House, Copper Country Homeless Prevention Coalition Chair John Niemela says there are modeling the revolving homeless shelter after The Room At The Inn in Marquette.
A planning meeting is being held this Friday from 11am to 2pm at the Jutila Center in Hancock.
Everyone who wants to help is encouraged to attend, especially churches who can become part of the shelter.
Niemela says they’d like to have a head count by close of business Wednesday. If you’d like to register, call John Niemel at 906-281-2042, or email johnniemela@gmail.com.
