Rena Lempea is best known around Mohawk as the woman who makes the award-winning pasties at the Superette. She’s taken on a new role within the community, looking to create one of the first social events in the area. Beginning this Saturday and continuing weekly through August, Lempea is organizing the Party In The Park.
Lempea says vendors are signing up for a week at a time or for every Saturday. That means what is available for sale will change substantially every seven days. As of right now there is only one themed gathering being worked on.
The hope is that produce and some other items will eventually get added so that Party In The Park begins to resemble a farmer’s market.
From 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, vendors will be set up at the Mohawk Park on US-41. Lempea says that so many people have great hobbies and that only intensified over the past year, given COVID-19. She hopes the new event can act as a place for them to begin to sell what they have been hard at work on recently. Anything from crocheting to metal gifts and jewelry will be on display.
