Pancakes for Pups on Sunday with the Copper Country Humane Society Closes Out Bridgefest’s Activities

Bridgefest’s fun times start Friday. Continue into Saturday. And wrap up on Sunday with a community pancake breakfast. This summer’s largest pancake breakfast for the entire Copper Country will benefit the Copper Country Humane Society. Vice President of the CCHS Board of Directors Kerri Sleeman says that in 2024 the organization has planned to get out into the community during more public events, and fundraisers.

So one of the things that we’ve been doing as the Board of Directors with the Copper Country Humane Society this year is trying to increase our presence in the community. So we’re participating in the City of Houghton Farmers Markets this summer. They’re Tuesdays from 3 to 6 down at the Waterfront Pier and we’ll be there selling artwork, animal artwork, as well as cat toys and just there to answer questions and collect donations. So stop by and say hi to us if you’re at the Houghton Farmers Market. We’re also the benefactor of the canal run this year, so encourage everybody to get out and walk or run.” – Kerri Sleeman, Vice President, CCHS Board of Directors

All of the funds from the pancake breakfast will help support the animals that the shelter cares for. Throughout the year the Humane Society collects donations to purchase food, toys, and new equipment and uses funds for expensive medical care when needed.

“So Bridgefest reached out to us last year and said we did the pancake breakfast for the first time last year with them. And it was quite a success and so we’re looking forward to working with them again this year. Sunday, June 16th from 9 to noon and it’s rain or shine. There’ll still be some tents down at the Kessner Waterfront Park, the Shoots and Ladders area. And so please come support us. We do have tickets available online. It does help us to have enough food available if people purchase ahead, but we will have tickets available at the event.” – Kerri Sleeman, Vice President, CCHS Board of Directors
