ORV Season Starting Up in the Copper Country

Snowmobilers will turn into other riders now that the sun’s out. Michigan’s ATV season has officially opened, and the Keweenaw ATV Club looks forward to greeting many familiar faces and new friends while out this summer. In the Keweenaw Peninsula ATV and side-by-side enthusiasts have plenty of miles of trails to ride before exploring the entire region. Throughout the Copper Country visitors can enjoy stopping by a mystic waterfall, cozy mom-and-pop shops, or plenty of other features in between. This summer will offer travelers the first opportunity in a few years to return to communities east of Torch Lake since the DNR and trails clubs reopened Trail Three over the winter. The project remediated several locations across the trail to ensure safe and reliable travel. Trail Three had been washed out by the 2018 Father’s Day flood. In recent years the Natural Resources Department has encouraged riders to ride right. This means traveling on the right side of the trail, riding at the right speed, and staying together as a group. Off-road vehicle trails in Michigan have a speed limit of 25 miles per hour through residential areas.
